Fiedler uses a questionnaire called the Least Preferred Coworker (LPC) scale to measure leadership style; a sample of the scale is shown in Exhibit 14.6 (see the Self-Assessment at the end of this chapter for the full LPC scale). When completing the LPC scale, people are instructed to consider all of the people with whom they have ever worked and then to choose the one person with whom they have worked least well. Fiedler explains, “This does not have to be the person you liked least well, but should be the one person with whom you have the most trouble getting the job done.”
