What Does the
Study Mean?
A salient result was that participants’
skill level influenced their
attitudes about, and perceptions
of, the competitive experiences
they engaged in. Therefore, using
competitive games and situations
with others who exhibit similar
skill levels is likely to positively
influence students’ perceptions
of their opportunities for success.
In order for students to maximize
the benefits of their time in physical
education classes, teachers
should create and implement
competitive games that include
participants with similar skill
levels. This may produce more
effective learning and increase
positive affect toward competitive
physical activity
