Divergent Series :)
I’ve just finished reading Allegiant after starting the Divergent series last year (would of finished t before but had AS exams to revise for) and I have to say, the Divergent series is the best book series I have every had to fortune to read.
Divergent was a great book, telling us the beginning of the new life for Tris and how she found her love in Tobias “Four”, and how she became best friends with Christina. I love the fact that there was drama in every chapter of the book and I also loved the fact that she would always think of her family, through the good times and the bad times. She found her true love and soul mate in Tobias, but she also found who she really is and what she want people to see in her and not what she thinks people want to see in her.
Insurgent was an amazing book, the way the faction came together to help one another which shows a sign of wider community, but also the fact that people who never spoke to each other who help people in need. Tris’ and Tobias’ relationship started to crumble with all of the arguments they were having, but you could still see the love that they had for each other and the fact that they were fixing things to make their relationship work again. I also loved the swap in the personalities of characters, the fact that Peter stopped Tris being executed by swapping the serum, but I also love the fact the we saw the real Caleb and that her definitely put 'faction before blood’ and the he didn’t want to help his sister. The next thing I love is that the Factionless went from being the homeless, to the people who had the power in the end and ruled over the whole test.
Allegiant I think was one of the best books I have ever had the privilege to read. The fact that Tris, Christina, Tobias, Caleb, Cara, Matthew, Amar and other people were fighting for equality between everyone and not just put them into categories because of their gene type. I also love the fact that Tobias learnt from his mistakes and that he could carry on fighting even though he made that mistake. I also love that fact that they were working as a team again and not just in pairs, that shows that team work is important, but also having the right team is also important to get the work done. I also love the fact that Tris found who she could really trust, even with the rocky journey she had. You also learn that if a community has been at war for a long period of time, they can still work together and live in peace afterwards, even if there are some people who believe that violence is still the answer for peace. It also shows that violence is not always the answer to decisions being made and things getting changed, it shows that non-violent approaches can also be the answer.
I think Veronica Roth has created an amazing lead character od Tris, to show females, but also males that whatever you do you can fix it, even if it takes a long time, things will change for the good. I love the fact that Tris isn’t one of these led characters that live till the end like Harry Potter or Katniss Everden, the fact that she dies for what she believe in the fact that she pus everyone else before her is why she is an inspiration to people even though she isn’t real. I also love the fact that Veronica Roth has shown that if you do something, you don’t always achieve and that if you do something good, something bad might happen to you and the fact that Tris died to save people in the experiment, but to also stop the Government from destroying memories and lives that don’t need to be destroyed.
My Favourite Quote from the whole series is from Allegiant and its the end of chapter 56 on page 509 and it is:
‘There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.
But sometimes it doesn’t.
Sometimes it I nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of everyday, the slow walk toward a better life.
That is the sort of bravery I must have know.’
