2.4.1. Disease assessment
The effect of plant extracts, hot water treatments and their
combinations on disease incidence (DI) and disease severity (DS)
were assessed at 4-day intervals from the time of disease appearance. Data on DI was recorded as the percentage of fruits showing
anthracnose out of the total number of fruits in each treatment (12
fruit). DS was scored using a 1-5 scale, where 1¼0% of fruit surface
rotten; 2¼1e25%; 3¼26e50%; 4¼50e75% and 5¼76e100%
(Sivakumar et al., 2002). The scores were changed in to percentage
severity index (PSI) for the analysis (Wheeler, 1969).
