Thanks to ecotourism, things may be looking up for the endangered Asian elephant. While trekking camps and circuses may still see to a major amount of unethical treatment of the empathetic giants, there is a chance to bring them back and slowly help reintroduce a growing population of the endangered species. Ecotourism promotes tourism which protects the livelihood of the economies that rely heavily on elephant tourism, as well as the elephants and their mahouts. This may be the best and most realistic solution to unethical treatment, as completely banning elephant tourism would likely collapse an economy and put thousands of these creatures on the streets, forcing them and their mahouts to beg. The ethical treatment of elephants can allow for people to learn from elephants and benefit elephant tourism countries and the world as a whole.
