During the 1930s, another Frenchman, Antoine Bovis, visited the Great Pyramid. By this time, the pyramid was hugely popular with tourists. It was visited by thousands of people from all over the world each year. Among the rubbish they left inside, Bovis saw a dead cat. His guide told him the cat had died several months earlier. But the carcass had not decayed, and did not smell bad! Bovis was curious. When he returned to France, he experimented with model pyramid and found that any food kept inside a pyramid stayed fresh much longer than not!
