High percentages of the strictly aerobic Pseudomonas being present
among the storage flora of muscle foods packaged under anaerobic
conditions has been linked to the presence of initially high numbers
of Pseudomonas, localized growth in the pockets of oxygen containing
atmospheres remaining in poorly formed packs and also
due to the low selectivity of Pseudomonas CFC-selective medium,
which allows growth of bacteria other than Pseudomonas
(Tryfinopoulou, Drosinos, & Nychas, 2001) although, in this study, the
incidence of non-Pseudomonas on CFC-selective medium plates was
negligible.
