Co-culture 1 included microorganisms A. adeninivorans and P.
angusta VKM Y-1397. A. adeninivorans possess a broad substrate
specificity and are the basic microorganisms in the co-culture.
Addition of P. angusta Y-1397 to them enables expanding the range
of oxidized substrates to include methanol, glycerol, secondary and
branched alcohols. Besides, cells of A. adeninivorans and P. angusta
Y-1397 have similar growth phases and arrive at the growth retardation phase in approximately 30 h. They are also characterized
by the prolonged lag phase (10–12 h) and prolonged linear growth
phase (12–14 h). Thus, it can be assumed that there will be no domination of one yeast species over the other.
