Epidemiology
Trichineila spp. are found in virtually all warm-blooded
carnivores. In addition to the species found in the domestic
pig (Trichinella spiralis or T-l), several other species (T. nativa
or T-2, T. britovi or T-3 and T. pseudospiralis or T-4) and
types (T-5, T-6, T-7, T-8) are found in wildlife (38). The
importance of wildlife species is related to the ability of the
nematode to be introduced into, and infect, domestic swine.
