Linguistic insecurity is when people are insecure and conscious of the way they speak. They often try to improve their accents and pronunciation. Many are conscious of being observed or analyzed. This is often present in the English language and it becomes a problem when people strive to such extents due to the stereotypes around English. It is often associated with power, status and being the language of the elite class.
