Some heavy metals namely lead, cadmium, copper, zinc and iron in dried shrimp samples were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry , after wet digestion of 10 g sample with a mixture of H2SO4 (1:4):HNO3:HCIO4(5:2:3 v/v/v) for lead and cadmium and H2SO4 : HNO3 (1:3 v/v) for copper zinc and iron. Metrix effects could be reduced by means of standard addition method. The contents of copper zinc and iron in 8 dried shrimps samples were found to be in the ranges 2.04-4.59 mg/kg, 12.66-19.26 mg/kg and 8.89-2.49 mg/kg respectively. Lead and cadmium were not detected.
