Considering the EU MRL, in February 45.9% of raw milk samples
exceeded AFM1 concentrations of 50 ng/L. Furthermore, a slight
decrease in the number of samples with concentrations higher than
the EU MRL was recorded in the period from March to June, when
the number of samples dropped to only 4.64%. Also, concentrations
of AFM1 in both raw and UHT milk samples gradually decreased in
the period from February to July. In UHT milk samples, 36.2%
samples were above the EU MRL values only in February, while in
the period March to July, the number of samples ranged from 2.12
to 6.55%. Accordingly, statistical differences in AFM1 concentrations
were found between the observation months for both raw and
UHT milk (P < 0.001, both).
