3. Fractured-blade specifications and environmental conditions
The chemical composition of the blade was determined to measure element weight percentages (Table 1). The results of chemical analysis showed that the material was in accordance with Nimonic105. The weight of the fractured blade was 59 g, and the weight of the new first-stage-nozzle blade was 65 g; thus the weight of the separated blade feather was 6 g. The blades were 50 × 27 × 19 mm3 and without coat. The gas turbine was installed in a seaside pump house in the South-West of Iran,which has a hot and humid climate. Average salinity in the Persian Gulf region is 40 g per litre, 8 g more than ocean means. Analysis of the solute composition of seawater at the nearest point to the gas turbine location is shown in Table 2. As can be seen, where the turbine works contained a large amount of sodium chlorate, seawater led to the formation of sodium sulphate.
