In the current evolving educational environment, it is considered a strategic imperative to be aware of effective processes, procedures and plans to improve capability through the implementation of mobile and e-learning applications, strategies and techniques. Being well informed on these initiatives is seen as being central to improving individual, organisational, regional, and national performance and global competitiveness. To enable Praboromarajchanok Institute (PBRI) to be at the leading edge of mobile and e-learning in health they are undertaking an intensive three week professional development course at the Waikato institute of technology. The key objectives of this course are.
• To inform participants of how Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), e-learning applications and mobile technologies can be used in health education to build confidence and capability.
• To demonstrate, through practical examples, how learning technologies can contribute to the achievement of advanced professional qualifications to meet regional and national needs in the health sector.
• To identify the critical success factors for education and training to be delivered effectively through e-learning and mobile methodologies.
• To evaluate how industry and educational organisations can be informed of the most appropriate use of e-learning and mobile technologies for their specific situation.
• To be informed of how e-learning and mobile technologies ultimately impact on patient care.
