Supervisor experiences of the health-promoting educational programme
The supervisors stated that they had reached good results within the area organization, which had received increased priority and focus. Their knowledge in this field had increased after the study. More questions had been raised to a higher level. They also performed a health consistency judgement in decision-making situations. Within the area life-style, behavioural changes had been reached, not only talked about like they were before. Employees asked for more activities. Health-promotive effects were visible, for example it was easier to handle stressful work situations and co-workers took more responsibility for their actions. Health was discussed during development conversation, and health was a standard point on personnel meetings; flexible work-hours were introduced at some workplaces. Areas to further develop are: 1) how to perform rehabilitation plans in an effective way, 2) how to be a good role-model as a supervisor, and 3) how to develop organizational change strategies. Successful strategies mentioned were: to confirm ideas, to be interested and sensitive and to select relevant goals, to give feedback and promote a healthy life-style.
