That AMF colonize rice roots is rather difficult. In our unpubliced experiments, several AMF strains, i.e., Acaulospora laevis (90034), Glomus manihotis (90038), Glomus mosseae (90107 and BGCYN05), Glomus etunicatum (BGCTW01), and Glomus intraradice were used to inoculate upland rice root. Less than 20% of infection rates were observed when rice was inoculated
by those strains. About 30-80% of infection rates were once observed when rice was intercropped with mungbean or white clover, but in this study the rice infection rates were less than 15%.
