The following night was the KBS Gayo Daekchuje. I was pretty anxious since it was the girls’ first public performance in South Korea, and on South Korean television, as eight members. And on a more personal note, I was feeling wary as well, since it was inevitable that Nichkhun would bump into Tiffany once more, especially since 2PM and SNSD would go on stage one after the other.
To be honest, at this point, I was growing tired of it. I was growing tired of the uncertainties and the potential drama these could cause. But that didn’t mean that I would give up and stop finding ways to continually fight for Tiffany’s love. The difficult part was preventing myself from doing something stupid in that fight for her love, especially since Nichkhun was being more aggressive about earning back her love.
“I know that look,” Jenny sunbae whispered.
“It’s as if I can do anything about it,” I exhaled, “I certainly can’t go around restricting Tiffany’s movements so that she can avoid him,” and then directed my sights at the girls being interviewed, acting all silly in front of the camera, “That’ll be too obvious and would certainly won’t make any sense at all.”
“How you keep it all under control is so beyond me,” she patted my back, “Even if you know that you’re secure in your relationship with her, I can imagine how hard it must be for you to see others thinking that they ought to get back together.”
“I’m actually more worried about Tiffany herself,” I replied, “She has to put up with all of this, all publicly,” and then looked down on the floor as I shuffled my feet, “She bears the brunt of it all, not me,” and then proceeded to tell Jenny sunbae what happened the first time they were put together earlier that year for that special episode of MBC Music Core, and then on the plane from Hong Kong after MAMA.
“I see…” she nodded, “It’s sad that not even the others can fully shield her from this.”
“The best that they can do is to have at least one of them accompanying her all the time,” I said, referring to what the girls agreed on a few days earlier. It was Taeyeon’s idea, since they all knew that for both the KBS and MBC Gayo Daekchuje, the lineup was pretty much the same, with 2PM and SNSD performing one after the other, “They want to ensure that what happened in Hong Kong will never happen again.” In fact, during the opening act earlier tonight, Sooyoung and Sunny were deliberately standing in between Tiffany and Nichkhun onstage, as the Mushroom gave her opening welcome statement, not really giving him a chance to get next to her and get some screen time in.
It wasn’t long before they changed into their performance outfits, a y set of white long-sleeved top with red shorts and red high heels. It was a pretty uneventful night, which was both a blessing, compared to last year’s festivities with me running around being an Assassin, and a curse, since Nichkhun took every opportunity once again to talk to Tiffany, being backed up by s. I really couldn’t fault him or them for doing this, since again, they knew nothing about Tiffany’s relationship with me. At least Tiffany wasn’t alone this time around, always being accompanied by Sunny, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, or Yuri, who were all relatively loud and stronger-willed and were able to humorously bully Nichkhun around. It was such a mess.
Anyways, it wasn’t long before they took to the stage to perform “Mr. Mr.”. What transpired during their performance put my anxieties to rest. I silently thanked Divine Providence that they were still warmly received by the audience. Jenny sunbae and Ciara even reported to me as to how much spazzing was going on in the different social media platforms regarding the girls’ performance.
