CIE L* value and DL* were reported to present the color quality of WWN in the study. As listed in Table 2, the SGF group showed a brighter appearance than each WWN group at both 0 h and 24 h. There was an increase of DL* after 24 h with the reduction of WWF particle size, and the group 43-mm indicated significantly higher DL* than the group 125-mm. The results were in accordance with our previous study about the effects of fine grinding of millfeeds on the qualities of WWN (Niu et al., 2014a), which also demonstrated that the DL* value of WWN produced after 24 h increased as the particle size of wheat bran decreased.
