Occupant satisfaction in Building B
By application of descriptive statistics Building B received the following satisfaction ratings from FTE and transient users, respectively: 93 and 83 percent for workspace layout, 80 and 80 percent for workspace furniture, 60 and 66 percent for thermal comfort, 85 and 87 percent for indoor air quality, 80 and 76 percent for lighting levels, 90 and 87 percent for acoustic quality, 95 and 80 percent for WE, and 94 and 86 percent for cleanliness and maintenance. Thus, on average FTE and transient occupants were 85 and 81 percent satisfied with their IEQ, respectively. Based on the reporting of satisfaction levels from both occupant types, users were the most satisfied with the indoor air and acoustic quality of their building but were the least satisfied with their thermal comfort. Similar to Building A, this building demonstrated acceptable scores in all of the IEQ factor areas. However, when compared to the USGBC’s more stringent satisfaction level of 80 percent, Building B was approximately 14 percent below the recommended rating for thermal comfort. Figure 2 has been provided to illustrate the satisfaction rating of FTE and transient occupants in Building B.
