Materials
Khan loved stone, to him it was the material form the old classic ruins which he had admired during his visit to Rome. Building in Pennsylvania was cheaper in wood though, and Khan had no trouble adopting this material for the Fisher house. However the basement was close to a river and building it in stone so that the wooden structure would remain elevated from the ground made all the sense in the world, so he had the chance to apply his beloved material to the lower level, which he then extended to the very center of the hose in the fireplace.
The window frames for the entire house is made of wood.
The outer coating of the facades is of cedar wood. The house consists mainly of a vertical wood siding. The Fishers had waited almost seven years to get their house finished since the project was always relegated to a second place when Kahn had more important projects to work on. Although the long wait the Fishers seemed to love their new home as they never had a problem taking the necessary time to clean and treat its delicate façade, even many years after they moved into it.
