Following a consequentialist approach on the utilitarian theory, Hyatt has been outsourcing in order to achieve the financial benefits of this practice and maximize its profits. One down side to this approach is that it is very difficult to assess the real “net happiness” produced by a decision (Shaw & Barry 2009) but on the other hand it is relatively a free decision making system since there is no moral authority to judge the nature of the action (Pincus 1998).Hyatt could say that practice benefits the hotel profit and still generates jobs; which provides a certain amount of happiness for the community. The employees regard this decision differently: they are being paid less and getting less benefits. Based on a cost-benefit of the whole system we can argue that the hotel is searching benefit at the community expense, thus not making an ethical utilitarian decision.
