World international arrivals, according to the WTO, will
reach 1.6 billion by 2020, more than triple the 475 million
people who traveled abroad in 1992.
By employing approximately one out of every ten workers,
travel and tourism is the world’s largest employer and is
the largest industry.
The estimates are that in the year 2012 there will be 249
million travel- and tourism-related jobs, accounting for 8.6
percent of total employment, which is 1 in every 11.7 jobs.
