Deciduous or mixed deciduous forests are areas in which the trees and many of the plants lose their leaves in teh hot season and grow fresh ones in teh rainy season. This type of forest is found in teh drier lowland areas. In these forests you will find teak trees growing. Other deciduous forests include limestone forests, especailly in the South, fine forests and freshwater swamp forests.
the importance of forests
(1) Forests are the main source of our four main living requirements. These are food and water, housing, clothing and medicines.
(2) We can earn money from the export of woods such as teak but only if there is a properly managed replaning programme.
(3) Forests, because they help keep water in teh soil, are the origins of many streams and rivers.
