Addition of Ni(OH)2 has
clearly resulted in changes in the products. First, peaks of starting
sample CaO become weaker with the increase in molar ratio of
Ni(OH)2 and almost unobservable with 2 moles addition. CaO has
been used up for dechlorination and hydrogen formation. Second,
the peaks of metal nickel are observed. It is known that Ni(OH)2
can be reduced into metal Ni by hydrogen when heated over 200 ◦C.
