Wet beads are passed through a long rotating dryer. In the dryer, the moisture is driven off leaving the carbon black beads. Heat for the dryer is supplied by burning tail gas in the tail gas combustor.
The combustion gas(dryer flue gas) flows around the dryer drum to heat up the metal of the drum. The combustion gas leaves the dryer via dryer flue gas blower to stack gas treatment which is located at KKPC. The temperature of combustion gas at dryer outlet is around 500~550’C.
Combustion air is supplied by a combustion air blower. CCK is using filtered air from dense tank bag collector as combustion air. The temperature of filtered air is about 120~150’C. Filtered from three dense tank bag collector is connected with one header.
Combustor was constructed with mild steel plate lined with refractory to keep the heater inside combustor. Refractory is consisted of 2 layers. The temperature of combustor inside is about 1050’C. So it radiates high temperature heat through refractory to outside. Combustion air is heated through combustor double outer shell from 90~100’C to 260~290’C. And then combustion air is burned with tail gas.
If the temperature of combustion air is increased, it can reduce the tail gas consumption. As combustion air temperature is increased, the heating value of combustion air is also increased.
CCK would like to install combustion air pre-heater by using hot combustion gas to reduce tail gas consumption. Combustion air can be heated above 400’C. TCB and CCS plant are also pre-heating combustion air by using combustion gas. .
