KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The national sepak takraw squad are continuing their fine run in the Istaf Super Series in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
In the semifinals at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium in the Myanmar capital, the squad coached by Najib Iman easily defeated the hosts 2-0 (21-11, 21-14) in booking their ticket to the final.
Malaysia will meet top-seeded Thailand in the final tomorrow. The Thais had also easily defeated their semifinal opponents Singapore 2-0 (21-11, 21-9).
Najib was full of praise for the team who have not dropped a match en route to the final and asked the players to display an extraordinary performance tomorrow so that they can lift the title for the first time.
"All the players showed good team spirit and hunger to win today's encounter," he was quoted as saying on Istaf's website www.sepaktakraw.org.
The Istaf Super Series, which was introduced in 2011, has three more legs to go, in South Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines but the dates for these have yet to be determined.
