Introduction
e-Learning may be defined as the act of learning through useof electronic means to enhance understanding, to improve skills orto gain experience. With the increase in web technology andincrease in the electronic information the Internet has become thepreferred medium for e-Learning in the field of education.Medical education requires a variety of material; educa-tional, graphical, physical, and factual information. The traditionalmedical education involves the use of texts, lectures, images, andbooks. This old style of medical education is enhanced throughincorporating e-Learning strategies. With the advancement in thetechnology, electronic learning has become an essential asset inthe field of medical education , especially in radiology educationbecause of intense imaging involved in the study.Radiology education is important not only for radiographers ordoctors specializing in radiology but is equally important for juniordoctors and undergraduate medical students so that they do notmiss any critical finding while reviewing images. In medical education, radiology teaching is a significant partof the undergraduate medical curriculum. It is said to be themandatory building block (70%) in medical field and its teaching isinvolved in every medical year although the proportion varies fromyear to year. The importance of undergraduate radiology educa-tion is explicitly mentioned in recent surveys. Moreover, theuse of electronic learning in medical institutions is on the rise and according to a survey e-Learning is involved in 70% of the time inradiology teaching throughout the European medical institutions. The present research focuses on the outcome achieved throughthe use of electronic learning in radiology education.The research work on e-Learning in radiology education can beseen in the recent literature but the review presented in thispaper is differentiated from these studies on the following basisthat the scope of the review is limited to radiology education atthe undergraduate level; the review is based on search resultsfrom four databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, Eric); a stan-dardized selection process PRISMA flow diagram of SystematicLiterature Review SLR is used in the present study for identifyingthe relevant evidences and Kirkpatricks four level evaluationmodel is used for evaluating learning outcomes. The use of Kirk-patricks model helps evaluate the learning outcomes. These kindsof evaluation reviews are essential in identifying the learning for-mats that are most effective in enhancing learning and knowledgeretention. These studies are also beneficial in identifying strategiesthat help in practice change.
