Open cell copper plates with porosities ≈96% (average pore
size≈600m) were supplied by Mitsubishi Materials Corporation
in Japan which produces copper foams by a powder metallurgy
technique, as illustrated schematically in Fig. 1. Copper powder
with specific particle size is admixed at room temperature with
a foaming agent to form foamy slurry. The green samples are dried
and then sintered under controlled atmosphere at high temperature
