As national security has tightened, bomb-sniffing dogs have become increasingly visible. “Since Sept. 11, our calls have at least doubled,” says McMurray. “Whenever there’s a breach of security at Huntsville International Airport, Brandy and I are called to rescreen the airplanes, luggage and people.” McMurray has noticed a change in the public’s attitude toward these dogs. “People used to feel that their rights were being violated when we searched them,” he says. “Now they enjoy seeing our dogs and feel more secure.”
