Cultural values are generally viewed as relatively resistant to change (Dastoor, Roofe &
Mujtaba, 2005). Still, Hofstede (1980) demonstrated that work-related cultural values are related
to economic, social and political influences. East Asian countries have changed in many ways,
economically, socially and politically, since Hofstede (1980) described their work-related
cultural values. Therefore, one would expect that there are demonstrable changes.
