4. Results and discussion
Fibre content was determined using 0.5 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4
and the percentages obtained were 15.8% and 39.3% respectively
showing that HCl attacked the
fibre more than the H2SO4. HCl was
subsequently used for the hydrolysis of the cellulose and
fibre as it
serves as a substitute to relevant enzymes such as cellulase
