After introducing Kelly Sweet's "We Are One" on Sunny's radio show, she said, "This is a song I chose for our f(x). It's a song that warms my heart and makes me cry tears of joy.
(While preparing for our showcase), we had no idea whether we'd be able to debut tomorrow or in a year from now. The members would always stick together and promise, 'Let's do well. Let's work hard and succeed.' We were about 15, 16 years old at the time.
We tried to become a source of strength for one another and on days where we'd get into a fight, get upset, or get sick, we'd stop rehearsing, lay down on the floor together, and turn on this song.
The intro of this song reminds me of my mother. It's a song that helped us become one when we were all physically and emotionally exhausted. When we were laying down together, we'd cry if we wanted to, laugh if we wanted to, and sometimes fall asleep to it.
One night, we had a 10 hour evening rehearsal. I honestly gave the members such a hard time then. I'd count from 1 to 100 on a notepad and we'd practice by ticking each number off. Whether that took all night, 10 hours, or 5 hours didn't matter because I thought it'd be better to count off on practice than go by time. It was so we wouldn't get tired. We had to have a goal to run towards. We were so young that we needed something to keep us grounded or we'd stop.
The rehearsals became too much for the members and I understood what they were feeling. I had our rehearsals focused on me and I could've been more understanding and let us take breaks but I was greedy and didn't think of the members first. We were all so tired and missing our moms. It was a day we turned on this song and cried a lot. I just wanted to debut so fast. I'm sorry about what happened then. When I listened to this song, I remember thinking that I wanted to be with my members until the end. That we could be a source of strength for each other when we're tired. When I listen to this song now, I'm reminded that we are truly one....
