Generally, higher concentration of heavy metals was observed in all polluted crops, site vegetation and soils. Among all the heavy metals detected in the soil, highest concentration of Lead was observed in polluted maize (35.5 ppm) while the lowest concentration of Lead was observed in unpolluted Cowpea (4.8 ppm). This is a strong indication that maize is a good hyper-extractor which can be used in the process of phyto-remediation of crude oil polluted site. The Pb concentration in polluted site vegetation was 43% higher than the concentration in unpolluted site vegetation.
