Natural polymers like modified inulin and
hyaluronic acid are regarded more favorable for delivering curcumin
since they are safe and biodegradable (Li, Shin, Chen, & Park,
2015; Tripodo et al., 2015). Nevertheless, it is notable that most of
the nano-delivery systems are not readily suitable for food and
related applications due to their inherent demerits. Lipid based
nanocarrier requires large amount of surfactants and cosurfactants
to solubilize the curcumin and stabilize the colloid system. Meanwhile,
organic solutions like chloroform and methylene chloride
are also necessary during the formulation procedure. Synthesized
polymers usually have a low biocompatibility and are restricted for
food applications. And most of natural polymers need modification
for effectively loading curcumin which also make their usage in
food problematic. Additionally, the complicated preparation and
impractical cost render the majority of nano-delivery method
inappropriate for food applications
