Solid-phase forming is carried out at a temperature from 10 to 20 below the melting temperature of the plastic, while it is still in a solid state. The advantages over cold forming are that forming forces and springback are lower. These processes are not as widely used as hot-processing methods; they are generally restricted to special applications.
