Sericite powder (325 mesh) is fully washed several times with deionized water to remove the moisture contained in the sericite and dried for 24 h at 100 °C. 2 g of sericite powder pretreated with 200 mL of MgCl2 ∙ 6H2O (1 M) in 250 mL of Erlenmeyer flask and then stirred for 24 h at 250 rpm a using a horizontal shaker. After 24 h, the mixture was centrifuged at 1500 rpm (628 g) and the supernatant was discarded, and the reaction to replace the new MgCl2 ∙ 6H2O (1 M) was repeated three times. Mg-sericite was used as the experimental reaction and dried for 24 h in a desiccator at 85 °C and then washed several times with distilled water. The molar ratio of Mg and Si is about 1.25 to 1.5 in Mg-sericite (Choi, 2015 and Wei et al., 2015). The experiment was conducted as a Batch-test. Fig. 1 shows the structure of natural sericite. To determine the effect of the treatment, Mg-sericite ranging from 0 to 300 mg/L was added in the brewery wastewater. The pH was controlled from 1 to 10 using NaOH and/or H2SO4 and the pH values were incremented by 1 from 1 to 10.
