Jordan to Enhance Relationship with ASEAN
JAKARTA, 15 January 2015 - Jordan’s first Ambassador to ASEAN, H.E. Walid Abdel Rahman Jaffal Al Hadid, presented his Letter of Credence to the Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Le Luong Minh yesterday at the ASEAN Secretariat.
Secretary-General Minh congratulated Ambassador Al Hadid on his assumption of duty as the first Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to ASEAN, and looked forward to working closely with him to enhance bilateral relations.
Ambassador Al Hadid informed Secretary-General Minh of the importance his government attaches to forging closer ties with ASEAN, building on the foundation of its relations with ASEAN Member States. He expressed the desire of his government to pursue practical cooperation with ASEAN and highlighted the potential to further boost trade volume and investment flows between ASEAN and Jordan. He said that Jordan could serve as a gateway to access the markets of the Arab world and Middle East region.
In response, Secretary-General Minh welcomed the keen interest of Jordan to strengthen ties with ASEAN. He informed Ambassador Al Hadid of the progress in ASEAN Community building, including the opportunities and challenges faced by ASEAN. They exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
