Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common non-melanoma malignant skin tumour [1, 2]. It originates from the epidermal or progenitor cells of the hair follicle, which resemble the basal cell layer of the epidermis. The cancer is characterized by a high local malignancy and a high (tenfold) risk of a second primary cancer to occur [3].
