3.1. Composition of sample material
The dry matter of the selected sample of flower stalks was
100e150 g kg1
. The starch content based on dry material was
178 g kg1 and the soluble fermentable sugars were 300 g kg1
.
The starch content in the extracted juice of the sample
material was 115.27 g kg1 on dry basis and the soluble
fermentable sugars were 288.18 g kg1
. The whole composition
of the used sample is shown in Table 2. The composition
varies with the age of the flower stalk, since older stalks have
higher content of fiber
