A retired Westchester County cop was shot Monday after he confronted two men walking near a vacant home on his block, according to reports.
Peter Schmidt Sr., who served 22 years at the Greenburgh Police Department, was wounded twice when he confronted men on Payne Road at 3:45 p.m., the Journal News reported.
The men were arrested after fleeing in a BMW onto the Bronx River Parkway.
“He’s shaken up, he’s going through tests but he’s conscious and alert,”Police Chief Chris McNerney told the paper.
