communication happened through typing in the dialogue
box. The teacher’s comments included motivational
comments (e.g. ‘Go on’, ‘Next one, please’, ‘That’s a fine
answer’, ‘You’re right, wasn’t that difficult, was it?’)
which often had the role of co-students in a classroom
setting. The teacher had to work hard at keeping the
students focused and motivated. Comments also included
explanations related to incorrect answers, elaborations on
grammatical issues. The dialogue alternated between
English language, mainly used for short, motivational
comments, and Hungarian, which was the language of
choice for the more complex explanations where precise
comprehension was the primary aim. An example of the
comments is shown in Fig. 2.
