Extrusion coating
• is the coating of a molten web of synthetic resin on to a substrate material.
• It is a versatile coating technique used for the economic application of various plastics, notably polyethylene, onto paperboard, corrugated fiberboard, paper, aluminium foils, cellulose or plastic films.
• In extrusion coating, resin is melted and formed into thin hot film.
• Extruded film is coated onto a moving flat substrate.
• The coated substrate then passes between a set of counter rotating rolls, which press the coating onto the substrate to ensure complete contact and adhesion.
