When I think of my past and my mom’s cooking, I always recognize special “Kanom Jeen Num Ya” or White Noodles with Fish Curry Sauce in English. It is a classic Thai dish often served at celebrations example for auspicious occasion. She has always been a superior cook, and one of her recipes is called Kanom Jeen Num Ya. It is a common dish, which ingredients be made of coconut milk, red curry paste, fish sauce, fresh fish filet, white noodle, cloves garlic and shallot . My mom’s Kanom Jeen Num Ya taste so good because they are mellow, spicy and delicious. Sometime I consume White noodle with “Som tum” or Papaya salad (the famous north-eastern food) that Thai people themselves call them “Tum sua” because balance comes from eating food from different regions. I have had many restaurants’ Kanom Jeen Num Ya, but my mom’s have always taste better. This dish makes me think of my mom and help me connect to my past life and my family. Kanom Jeen Num Ya is such a simple and normal Thai food, but it’ll always be superior to me because of my mom.
