GIS (Geographic Information System) is the outcome from the combination of the traditional disciplines
(geography, cartography and surveying, etc.) and modern science technology (remote sensing, global positioning
systems, computer science, etc.). It is now gradually developing into a multidisciplinary and comprehensive
application technology for spatial data treatment. At the aspect of auxiliary emergency command and rescue, GIS
system, after receiving various types of alarm information, can position the site and display the corresponding police
force distribution, geographic environment, municipal facilities and other information nearby, and in accordance
with the emergency event classification, start the appropriate emergency response pre-plan to mobilize police
resources, medicals, repair, and troubleshooting team. The system provides with visual commanding, so the
emergency management ability of the command centre can be enhanced.
