5.1. Exploratory factor analysis
Before analyzing the relationship between safety climate factors
and safety behavior, it is necessary to explore and check the
dimensionality of safety behavior items. Thus, an exploratory factor
analysis was performed to identify underlying factors of the
safety behavior using SPSS 22. Maximum-likelihood (ML) and promax
rotation were applied. A minimum eigenvalue of 1.0 was used
as a criterion to extract the number of factors. The analysis yielded
two safety behavior factors: safety participation and safety
compliance, which accounted for 60.94% of the total variance. Each of factors showed unidimensionality (Table 2). Item 10, 11, and 12
of safety behavior were dropped because of low factor loadings.
