I take more a "unit / split" point of view.
As an example:
I generally agree with Herr & Frau Schweizer.
Herr Schweizer likes garden gnomes, which I love. — √
His car is grey, and I hope he had a nicer car. — X
He's rather reserved, a little "cold". — ±
His garden and driveway are always clean. — √
He belongs to a different religion than I do. — ±
We might have voted the same last time... — √
...and different some time back... ±
...there are a few current affairs we have severe disagreements on. — X
...but that doesn't really preclude us from talking. — √
Nobody thinks he has done anything bad or criminal. — √
I hope he could have cooked something nicer last time. — X
His wife Frau Schweizer is really nice. — √
In my view he is a pretty nice guy. — √
Of course he has faults... X
...some things we can't really agree on but is not "too bad"... — ±
...so generally he is a good guy. — √
That's how I work. อีโมติคอน wink
