Indonesia's annual inflation rate decelerated more than expected in April as food and fuel prices fell on a monthly basis, the statistics bureau said on Monday. The bureau said April's headline inflation rate was 3.60%, the lowest rate this year. A Reuter’s poll had forecast annual inflation at 3.78% in April, while March's rate was 4.45%. April core inflation, which strips out administered and volatile food prices, eased to 3.41% from 3.50% in March. The poll had expected April core inflation of 3.46%. Consumer prices fell 0.45% on a monthly basis. Indonesia's central bank targets inflation at 3-5% this year. It has cut the benchmark rate three times this year, by 75 basis points in total, as inflation has stayed within its target range.
