Interviews with managers indicated that, since the international hotel sector was still quite young, it was difficult to find many employees who have remained in their present post for five years or more. In the one hotel at which this was relatively common, this coincided with the presence of numerous training programmes and employee development schemes. It remains to be seen whether there is a causal link in this case or whether other hotels will, when they have established themselves in the market more fully, also further add to their own employee development programmes.
