Respect also was described as a crucial element of care. One key informant stated, “don’t just treat me like I’m dumb…or like I’m not going to do it the way it need to be done and just ignore the problem.” General informants also revealed their awareness of the need to be respectful by stating, “I’m going to treat you the way I want you to treat me,” , “…my mother always said it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it,” and “…be just as kind and respectful as you would be to the CEO.”
