Data collection
The data were collected by the researcher. The subjects participating in the study completed the Turkish version of SF-MPQ and NRS just before the administration of the analgesic in the morning. In addition to these tools, arterial blood pressure of the patients was also measured once in the
morning using a sphygmomanometer (Erka Perfect Aneroid, Bad Tolz Germany). For test–retest purposes, the instrument should be administered for the second time at an interval that should not be short enough for subjects to remember the answers given in the first administration but not so long that the respondents would have changed significantly. The recommended interval is between two and six weeks (Patrick & Beery 1991, Tezbasaran 1997, Sencan 2005). For test– retest analysis, a group of at least 30 is recommended (Savasır & Sahin 1997).
